These characters had better got something really useful to show me.

Yes, we have another pony flashback. This time, much more brief, and more accurate to the actual event.

I think this'll be the last picture in the current "Enemies" group. So, have some old villains. I'm moving to weapons and items next.
http://lugbzurg.deviantart.com/art/Agent-Xavier-s-Additional-Foes-305706016

Pinkie Pie's readiness to show off more of her homeland was made by Jennieoo, and her polite demand from Richhap. Derpy Hooves' backwards-flying was from BronyBoy, whereas the part where she's actually flying correctly (and somewhat like a derpy little superhero) was by MoonBrony. Nova Reach's first graphic was made by myself, using a Twilight Sparkle graphic by Somepony, along with the the other two in the flashback, using Kenobi's reimagine ponies template as a base.

I know I'd go nuts after seeing something like that. Not to mention it must be very depressing knowing you'll have to give up all those sprites you borrowed, since you can't use them, anymore. Free graphical resources like sprites and show-traces really help things along when you're trying to meet a deadline.

You know what makes me feel better? Watching ponies beat the living crap out of shape-shifting beasts with dropkicks, uppercuts, skull-crushes, beatdowns, cannons, and gatling guns in the actual show, itself.

I mean, trying to make me look bad for using show vectors? What about all the sprites he uses? How is that any different? Transformations being gay and characters acting like they're high... Not everyone has to be restrained. Some people like to let loose and not bottle themselves up.

And if he thinks they're lesbians... I don't get it. 52 episodes and nothing of the sort has happened. He should see Rarity's crush on Prince Blueblood.

But, he's probably eating his words right now, watching the ponies in a legit slug-fest, wondering where he went wrong, learning not to judge something based on what people with entirely different mindset and goals have used less fleshed-out versions of to express.

After all, it's not like masterminds such as Gabe Newell dislike this series or anything. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPjFavgKO5I

@AuraX: The weird thing is, if Eevee reaches level 30 before it evolves, it learns Bite, but if it evolves into Umbreon before it reaches level 30, it can't learn Bite.

So, which would you say is the hardest set of main series Pokemon games in the past five years? Diamond and Pearl, Platinum (counting that separately since from what I understand it has a different difficulty level than DP), HeartGold and SoulSilver, or Black and White? Personally, I think HeartGold and SoulSilver are much more difficult than the originals, if only because of added abilities (sending a Ghost-type up against Whitney's Miltank no longer works), the physical-special split (Morty's Gengar's Shadow Ball is much more of a pain), and new moves (F*king U-Turn).

...Speaking of U-Turn, the second time I played through SoulSilver, Bugsy's Scyther never used that at any point. Yet it still took me several tries simply because he kept using Leer, Swords Dance, and Quick Attack. Not a good combination.

@Jarkes:
I would have to say either HGSS, or Black/White's aftergame.

Why BW's aftergame? because all the trainers are so cheaply over-leveled! By the end of the game, the average player should have their team in the mid-50 levels, but almost every pokemon in an opponent's team in the aftergame is level 63-67! It's the one aspect of the game I really don't like.

In my last run of HGSS though, my pokemon were way too under-leveled for the E4, and I really wanted access to Kanto for rare pokemon to transfer to White for the pokedex, so I ended up cheaping the E4 by using Ho-oh and trading over Giratina and the Lake Trio over from Platinum. I also used my Umbreon because he was the only one at a decent level and he absolutely decimated Will.

Conker, too? Yeah. It's rather poor logic to say that talking animals in a colorful world collecting jigsaw pieces can stand up, while colorful ponies that have actually gone off to war and beat the living crap out of a number of different monsters with actual physical violence, such as martial arts and loaded weapons must be considered "girly".

Your argument doesn't hold up. If people can like Banjo-Kazooie, Looney Toons, Popeye, or Portal, they can certainly enjoy something like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I have seen all 52 episodes that have aired thus far, and I can tell you from personal experience, there is nothing girly about it.

Do at least have a look at the show if you're going to bring it up like this. It isn't what the surface might be suggesting to you. I first looked into it from Sonic Paradox's (creators of Sonic F and The Sonic Shorts Collection) abridged series, and the rest is history.

So Paper Mario 3D finally has a name and release window... but not an ACTUAL release DATE yet? In the words of Sweetie Belle, OH, COME ON!

Also, the name "Sticker Star" makes me worry that the plot of the game is just going to be an excuse plot, which is NOT a good thing for an RPG, especially a Paper Mario game. Seriously, the Paper Mario games have been getting progressively darker, and this title suggests to me that the plot itself will actually revolve AROUND the sticker mechanic...

I just hope the villains are as interesting as the ones from Super Paper Mario...

@AuraX: Well, actually, apart from finding the Paper Mario video on Youtube, all I saw was Ubisoft's presentation of its games, and Nintendo Land. But I did hear about Pikmin 3 and several other things. I'm looking forward to getting more details about what they have planned for the 3DS tomorrow.

Weird thing is, several people on the livestream kept making comments about FiM, even calling Reggie an "Honorary Pony" near the end of it. Do you have any idea why that is?

Yeah, looks like the new Paper Mario game will be dialing back on the darkness a bit. Here's an official plot summary from the E3 site:

"On the day of the annual Sticker Fest, Bowser decides to pull a prank and scatters six Royal Stickers across the land. To retrieve these mysterious, magical stickers, which are now stuck onto Bowser and his underlings, Mario sets off on an adventure with Kersti, a sticker fairy, visiting prairies, deserts, forests, snowy mountains and volcanoes around the world."

Yes, you read that right. Bowser steals the plot coupon as a PRANK. Not even a "use the Royal Stickers to attempt to take over the Mushroom Kingdom." A F*yay*ING PRANK.

Also... six? Sure, Super Paper Mario had eight Pure Hearts, but why didn't they go with seven, given that this is supposed to return the series to its roots?

Not only that, but you actually need stickers to use YOUR BASIC HAMMER AND JUMP ATTACKS. And it's ALL stickers; no badges this time, even though, AGAIN, this was supposed to return the Paper Mario sub-series to its roots.

I mean, I'm sure the game will still be hilarious and fun, and I'm definitely still getting it, but seriously...

A PRANK?!

@Lugbzurg: Yeah, nearly all of the Pokemon, Mario enemies, Zelda enemies, and other Nintendo enemies have different names in the Japanese and English versions. Pikachu's one of the few who didn't actually have its name changed. Incidentally, Bowser is actually simply known as Koopa in Japan, and Princess Peach was originally known as Princess Toadstool in America.

...The weird thing is, a lot of enemies (and a few items) had incorrect names in the English version of Super Mario RPG. Among other things, normal Boos were called The Big Boo (and yes, the "The" is actually there), Cheep-Cheeps were called Goby, and the Koopa Shell weapon that Mario used was called NokNok Shell (Normal Koopas are called "Nokonoko" in Japan. It's some sort of Japanese onomatopoeia). Additionally, Yoshi's Island was referred to as "Yoster Isle," its Japanese name. You get the impression that Ted Woolsey (brilliant as he may be) didn't really know much ABOUT the Mario series, hence the incorrect names.

The Magikoopa boss battle in the game also had a line in both the Japanese and English version indicating it was Kamek, the Magikoopa from the Yoshi's Island games (though it's worth noting that while there was such a line in both versions, the actual line itself was completely different in the English version). However, "Kamek" is also the Japanese name for "Magikoopa," so it appeared to simply be a random Magikoopa. This actually happens to Kamek quite frequently, most recently simply being "Magikoopa" in the American version of Mario Party 9 (but not the European version, for some reason...). Particularly odd in that Kamek had his own game board in Mario Party DS, and it was translated correctly there...

Wow, that movie actually looks more promising than Frankenweenie. Not that I could see myself enjoying a black and white stop motion animated feature in theaters.

Honestly, if they were planning on making a a Frankeinstien's monster of a film where they combined Family Dog and the original Frankenweeniewhy isn't it in color? I realize they think it's artistic, and evokes a sense of nostalgia, if the film is in black and white. However, if it were genuinely being artistic they'd have jazzed up the color pallet a bit more than monochrome while keeping technicolor. Heck even using one of the earlier coloring techniques from the 30's would have given it a classic look without seeming pretentious.

@Lugbzurg: You realize that was a parody, right? But then again, parodies are usually exaggerations of the truth... And one person who commented (which was actually the top comment) also pointed out that, yes, John Blow actually believes that.

Another person who commented on said video pointed out that the game is more complex than your standard Mario game (at least after the first couple worlds), and (I'm quoting here) "the level where you find the princess is actually clever." However, he then goes on to say (and I'm quoting again), "Beyond that, however, it gets really pretentious." Does that sum it up nicely?

Not to mention, he's not the only person to have developed a game all by himself (I read somewhere that this was the case, but I can't remember where, and I'm not sure if it's true). Pixel developed Cave Story all on his own, and did it years before Braid. In fact, it took Pixel five years to develop Cave Story, whereas I'm pretty sure Braid took significantly less time.

However, the TvTropes page for the game suggests that all the Marioesque stuff is supposed to be a homage to the series, and it's also one of those mind screw type games that deconstructs stuff like saving princesses and stuff like that.

...Oh, I think I get it now. John Blow is the video game equivalent of Richard Kelly, and Braid is the video game equivalent of those pretentious "artsy" films that don't make any sense.

Not to mention, when I'm watching it on Netflix Instant, the animation seems quite a bit... brighter. Maybe I've just gotten used to the lower picture quality of Youtube, but I watched several Season 2 episodes when they premiered, and this wasn't the case when I watched them on TV.

He's made one game that was very average, and he believes he's mankind's last hope for all videogames and that Braid is the only game to hold any grand artistic merit.

Let's see... Hello, Shadow of the Colossus, Ico, Metal Gear Solid, Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Portal 2, Flower, Xotic, Limbo, Assassins Creed II, BioShock, Fallout 3, and Half-Life 2!

Sorry, Blow. Adding lots of paintings and classical music does not make your game nearly as amazing as you think it does.
