No, Nova Reach. There are no ponies with antenna where I come from.

So, this darker scene continues to move on. Because, showing a more sinister point just to show interest and then pulling it away quickly is completely cheap. Instead, we start to see more into this mare. There are no spoken words here, but, if you watch closely, the backgrounds speak volumes.

So, if this is too much darkness for you, there's always the joyful picture I made of a delicious golden cupcake. It's a Jellybob thing. Muffins come from killing things... I think...
http://lugbzurg.deviantart.com/art/Jellybob-Items-Golden-Cupcake-308939640

The only graphics in this page that I didn't build at all were those bones in Panel 3. Everything else, aside from the background in the last panel, by Proenix, and the graphics of the mare, which I did design and post, but, using the Pony Creator.

@greenpowerstar: Let's see what we can decipher here, shall we?

We've got a bending doorway, strange wispy things, an explosion mark where the wall is brightest closest to it, there are scratches on the wall of, not inner wall, but blood, tucked-in cobwebs, bones jetting out of these tight sockets, not to mention an eye attached to a wall, and a unicorn skull that is wearing the same headdress thing as this unicorn mare. The strange eye matches hers, as well.

But, nothing too far from what's already been established in the show after all, right? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kl7vfkjowxk

Eeyup. There were some others I wanted to add, like Nightmare Moon's defeat, the buffalo war, and the chase scene with the so-called "hydra", but, I couldn't find any clips for them. You've gotten so used to it by now, that you don't realize how over-the-top the show has gone above what's normally considered appropriate for childrens' television. 2. Subtle in-joke.
3. She's supposed to be a bully in that scene. That's how bullies act.
4. ...OK, I'll give you that one. I thought it was a bit... odd... that they decided to do this...
5. Subtle in-joke.
6. ...so?
7. ...why is THAT inappropriate?
8. Everypony freaking knows James Bond.
9. ...so?

10. ...so?
11. Again. So?
12. ...You're REALLY grasping at straws now.
13. Oh my freaking Celestia, are you freaking kidding me? HE GOT A MOUSTACHE. How is that even- I- WHAT?!?!
14. so?
15. A little dark, but nothing too bad. More comparable to when a child... "loses" their pet.
16. So. WHAT.
17. so?
18. so...?
19. Ok, MAYBE that's a BIT too much.
20. so?
21. so?
22. so?
23. so?

Hey, guys, I'm back from my canoe trip... And apparently, Lugbzurg and AuraX are arguing about the "darkness" of the show (as well as this page)... And this is why this is one of my favorite comics on this site...

I'd have to agree with AuraX on the "Spike gets a mustache" part... what exactly is age-inappropriate about that?

Additionally, the hydra was a little "surprise creepy," but it also had its own brand of silliness, given that one of its heads was apparently a little slow on the uptake.

Also, AuraX, the first clip he showed kind of looks like Twilight is being DRAGGED OFF TO HELL. Of course, that isn't what's happening, but it definitely feels like it.

EDIT: Never mind, I'd have to agree with AuraX on most of them. Some of them are more "target audience won't necessarily get the joke/reference", but some of the creepy ones aren't too bad.

@Jarkes: That thing almost killed them. Twilight almost drowned. That's a lot more than you'd find in The Wonderpets or Cyberchase. Oh, and the mustache thing? "Hello, Rarity!" This type of things happens A LOT. So much so, that, if you check the DirecTV description, it says something like "Sex: One of the characters has a crush on a unicorn." Although, it should just say "Spike has a crush on Rarity! (*sigh* And you were doing so well...)"

@greenpowerstar: Caillou fell off his tricycle (still not sure how he managed that) and started bleeding.

@AuraX: It's actually quite normal to start doing things like this. You think this is bad, you should play Banjo-Kazooie.

@Lugbzurg: Hmm... good point. I think the original Metroid Prime was actually marketed as a "first-person adventure," or something along those lines.

But I never said that Miyamoto had anything to do with Metroid Prime. The Conduit, however, was a first-person shooter, and about the only good one on the Wii. Which is a shame, really. You'd think the Wii's control scheme would've been perfect for FPS's (I'm speaking in the past tense since the Wii barely has any games made for it anymore, and it'll be even less now that the Wii U is coming out), but most of the FPS's on the system were just crappy Call of Duty ports that weren't even TRYING to make it work. And Red Steel, though I heard the second one was a significant improvement in just about every department.

Just because there was something that was in first-person that had some shooting that had something to do with Nintendo, they aren't allowed to ever make another FPS ever again? Not even a proper one? Seriously!?"

It makes absolutely no sense why I keep seeing people saying that they don't need to, just because Metroid Prime exists. And they have a few hundred platformers to their... three barely-FPSes.

@Lugbzurg: I agree with AuraX. Shadow the Hedgehog had some good ideas, but they were poorly executed. One of the parts that always bugged me about it was that no matter which mission you chose, all of the enemies (GUN soldiers, Black Arms, and Eggman Robots) would attack you. And the poor aiming was a problem too, especially in the final battle with Devil Doom. In fact, I had actually managed to get all of the endings of the game, but I could never beat Devil Doom. I just kind of gave up on it after a while. And the game STILL had an atrocious camera, even though you would think they would've worked out the kinks by this point (The two Sonic Adventure games at least had the excuse of being the first 3D Sonic games).

Not only that, but did you know that Sega actually replaced the original voice cast with the 4Kids voice cast for this game WITHOUT TELLING THEM? Ryan Drummond found out when he called the company to ask when they would begin recording, and David Humphrey (Shadow's original VA) actually TOOK A PLANE TO WHATEVER CITY THE RECORDING STUDIO WAS IN(I forget which city, but I think it was Los Angeles) before he found out that they had all been replaced. Kind of dickish, if you ask me.

...That said, it's hilarious to hear 4Kids voice actors cursing.

@AuraX: Yes, "really"! For a long time, Sonic Heroes and 007: NightFire were my two favorite games I owned. So, when Shadow the Hedgehog came along... yeah...!

@Jarkes: I recently thought about it like this: Sonic Adventure 2 is Majora's Mask. Shadow the Hedgehog is Twilight Princess. To kill Devil Doom, you have to make sure you're facing the head with the eye on it, and not get too close or far away. It also helps to charge up the chaos spear, or just go rapid fire. No point in going for a "happy medium" in that context.

Oh, yeah, and Sonic Adventure wasn't even the first 3-D Sonic game. But, it was the first that was mainstream.

A friend of mine who works at Sega (Zonikku on Smack Jeeves), told me that David Humphrey (an actual friend of Ryan's who recommended David to Sega for the roll of Shadow in the first place) had actually recorded all of his lines for Shadow the Hedgehog. All of them. And he still got replaced. I'd love to get my hands on those voice files.

@AuraX: You can team up with Eggman... twice. But, one of them times is a hero mission, for some reason. You know what they say: the more, the merrier!

@Lugbzurg: I don't even have Shadow the Hedgehog anymore. I just kind of gave up on it, and unlike the two Sonic Adventure games, that's a decision that I really don't regret. And yeah, I was aware that you had to get at the right distance, but the problem is, it's hard to tell exactly what the right distance is. Not only that, but IIRC, just hitting the eye once (with either a charged Chaos Spear or uncharged) caused it to switch sides, which meant that you had to constantly switch sides. And given the standard super mode ring drain, this got annoying for me.

Really, for me, Shadow the Hedgehog was just kind of... average.

Also... really? David Humphrey actually recorded ALL of his lines? Wow... and I thought dubbing over Josh Keaton with Drake Bell in Spider-Man's appearance on Avenger's: Earth's Mightiest Heroes was bullcrap...

@Jarkes: I'm pretty sure that's what he said. Even without that, flying all the way over there, just to find out that he had been replaced without notice is border-lining on illegal.

Also, that Spider-Man thing kind of reminds me of how, in the Japanese version of Sonic X, they actually got Live and Learn to play during the FinalHazard battle, but, it got removed in the English dub, under the exact same logic that did... well... this...

Thank goodness... I thought it was another shipp-pic.

I meant there's no ending where you actually ally with Eggman. All endings involving Eggman (Bar the final story) have Shadow either killing him, or telling him to GTFO.

SUBJECT CHANGE GO!

What do you guys think are the best, non-two-parter episodes of each season of MLP:FiM? My favorites are Cutie Mark Chronicles (season 1) and Lesson Zero (season 2). Yeah, it was hard to pick just one each.

EDIT: I forgot to mention it earlier: You have to narrow it down to one per season.

Okay, that fanfic I keep mentioning? The one with Shining Armor and Discord? I've figured out most of the plot details now, and here's some of them: Discord escapes by using the "chaos energy" left over from the Changeling invasion (I'll explain what that is in the fanfic), making Shining indirectly responsible, (or so he feels). Shining goes on a quest with the mane cast to find another power source that will permanently defeat him. Along the way, Shining and Twilight have some sibling bonding moments, and Twilight learns of the struggles her brother has had to go through as part of the Canterlot Guard. Here's a hint: it involves ponies dying. And somepony may die during the main quest. But don't worry, it won't all be doom and gloom.

Now I just need a title for the fanfic. The title needs to refer to both Shining Armor and Discord in some way. I'm leaning towards "Shining in the Darkness," but that's already the name of a video game, and I don't want to confuse people. But I can't really come up with any better titles.
