Well, "Derpy", you seem to thuroughly-enjoy muffins, I take it.

So, we begin to see a little more of what's been going on, here. This time, from an all-the-more-entirely different perspective. This is the... what? 4th time there's been a flashback to this moment. But, this time, I've taken the liberty of using a new visual style for this type of flashback. The reimagine graphics just would cut it. And that's totally not an excuse to just not make another reimagine graphic!

A DeviantART submission will be coming eventually. Same with the graphical credits. Been a bit busy, lately, and have been making Serendipity pages in Advance for just such an occasion.

@greenpowerstar and AuraX:

Okay, you two, KNOCK IT OFF.

Anyway... I've got most of the plot for Shining in the Darkness figured out, though there are several differences than what I had originally planned. For example, there wasn't originally going to be somepony breaking into the Canterlot Vault in an attempt to free Discord, but after putting that at the end of the first chapter, I came up with an entire backstory for that character. He will be relevant throughout the entire story, though the "chaos energy from the Changeling invasion" idea I had originally planned will still be brought up. I'm having trouble figuring out a name for this pony. It needs to reflect his dark nature (he's a very nasty and creepy villain), but I don't want to go overboard with grimdark, in both his name and his actions. I've also decided to significantly change Shining Armor's backstory. At first, I was going to have somepony die years prior to the fanfic, giving Shining lasting guilt that Discord and the other pony screw with. But I decided against this idea when I realized that it turned Shining Armor into a ponified version of Cloud Strife, which I'd rather avoid. Instead, Shining Armor expresses regret that he can't always be there for the ponies he cares about (specifically, Twilight and Cadence), which leads to certain... decisions later in the story.

Personal Attack? Really? Do you honestly believe that being asked to calm down is harmful in any way, shape or form?

Because I need to be in a position of authority to ask you to calm down.

If anything, this solidifies my claim of you taking things too seriously, and needing to just calm down.

Next time, when referring to a pony original character (using the full phrase, since I know you don't like "OC" either) that is explicitly based off of myself, I'll use the term "pony counterpart." How's that?

So, we're cool now? ...Please? ...I don't want anyone to get banned from commenting unless they truly deserve it (like flamers).

Genesis Era
Green Hill Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Metropolis Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog 2)
Icecap Zone (Sonic the Hedgehog 3)
Rival: Mecha Sonic (Sky Sanctuary; Sonic & Knuckles)
Boss: Death Egg Mecha (Death Egg; Sonic & Knuckles)

DreamCast Era
Lost World Zone (Sonic Adventure)
City Escape Zone (Sonic Adventure 2)
Mystic Mansion Zone (Sonic Heroes)
Rival: Shadow the Hedgehog (Green Forest/White Jungle, Sonic Adventure 2)
Boss: The BioLizard (Cannon's Core, Sonic Adventure 2)

Modern Era
Kingdom Valley Zone (Murphy's Law: The Videogame)
Rooftop Run Zone (Sonic World Adventure)
Sweet Mountain (Sonic Colors)
Rival: Silver the Hedgehog (Soleana; Murphy's Law: The Videogame)
Boss: Egg Nega Wisp (Terminal Velocity; Sonic Colors

ENDGAME
Center of Time Zone (Sonic Generations)
Boss: The Time Eater

@Lugbzurg: Yeah, I'm surprised the game didn't have an original level right before the final boss, like in Sonic Adventure 2.

@AuraX:

Yeah, you're probably the only one. To be fair, I haven't played that version, but seriously, why do the Classic versions of the Genesis stages in the 3DS versions have unaltered layouts from the original games? And why is it, after ignoring every other handheld Sonic game in that version, SUDDENLY, you have Water Palace from Sonic Rush? Heck, it doesn't even have stages from Heroes, 06, or Unleashed!

...Though it's worth noting that the Biolizard IS a boss in the 3DS version... AAAAND you fight him the EXACT SAME WAY SHADOW DID IN THE ORIGINAL GAME. Instead of, you know, doing what the CONSOLE version did with all the other bosses and GIVING THEM NEW STRATEGIES. And why is Egg Emperor the ONLY representation of Heroes in that version?

...Personally, back to discussing the console version, I think it would've been cool if, instead of just having one rival battle and one regular boss battle per era, plus the Time Eater, they could've, like with the stages, had one boss from each game, plus the rival battles and Time Eater. I'd list bosses that I would've liked to have seen, but this one's getting too long, so I'm making a new comment.

ANYWAY, bosses I would've liked to have seen in the console version of Generations (that weren't already in there):

Sonic 1: Green Hill Zone Boss, but make it less pathetic (and simply swinging the ball all the way around doesn't count).

Sonic 2: Already covered.

Sonic 3: Marble Garden Zone Boss.

Sonic & Knuckles: Giant Eggman Robo (that's the official name of the robot at the end of the Death Egg Zone).

Sonic Adventure: Already covered, though personally, I would've liked to have gotten revenge on that darn Egg Viper.

Sonic Adventure 2: Egg Golem (since Sonic actually FACED that boss, unlike the Biolizard's original form).

Sonic Heroes: Metal Madness.

Sonic 06 (AKA Murphy's Law: The Video Game): ...I know jack-diddly about the bosses from this game, so I can't really suggest any other than Solaris.

Sonic Unleashed: Already covered.

Sonic Colors: ...Yeah, I'm with you, Lugbzurg. Egg Nega Wisp.

...Actually, I still haven't gotten past all of Asteroid Coaster yet... Darn Stage 3 with those... pushy wall thingies!

@AuraX: Yeah, I kept hearing something about a "Center of Time" stage, back before the game came out. I was surprised to find out it was untrue. It wasn't even being stated like a rumor. I actually saw it in a level list!

@Jarkes: Yeah, the 3DS version was rather... incomplete. It was surprisingly lacking of handheld stages for a game that actually claimed to be "Celebrating 20 years of handheld Sonic games". I haven't been that much of a fan on the breakneck speed gameplay in recent Sonic games, but, it seems to get even worse in 2D (except for Sonic Advance 2, which I think did it very well at). It has the same rival battles (would've liked to have seen Mecha Sonic or Knuckles in the Genesis Era) and they're all in action stage areas! Speaking of which, it's missing three of them. Several of the tracks in the game are just the exact same music files from the original work just slapped right in, like Classic Emerald Coast and Tropical Resort. (Classic? Really?) Not to mention that a Sonic Heroes boss somehow made its way into the Modern Era. However, the Time Eater boss was certainly done much better in this version than the console version.

@AuraX: Radical Highway... Just keep grabbing those rocket elevator things, and you're ok.

@Jarkes: Oh, Murphy's Law bosses? You could say "Iblis" or "Egg Genesis" (Which, unfortunately, isn't called the "Egg Mega Drive" in the European version), I guess, but, since they seemed to need an Eggman boss, then, "Egg Wyvern". ..."HERE I COME, SONIC!" And, yes, I think that if they had gone with the Egg Nega Wisp, it would have made that connection with Sonic Colors in that one cutscene a lot more sensible and meaningful. Not to mention that the original version was rather lacking.

It was so predictable on every front I pretty much guessed everything from the start, plus it added things to the town like a dam and a construction sight that are never explained or seen, or referenced again and were there for the sake of having multiple disasters on the same day. , and Dashie didn't learn much from the episode considering she's exactly the same as she was before the episode basically rendering the episode moot. I mean at least after the Daring Do episode we see Dashie reading the books again, I just felt the episode was kinda've pointless because it didn't evoke any real change in the character. But she's the element of loyalty, and that part of her personality always come through in the end.

@Sabbo Again:

Well, I, for one, am glad Hasbro recognizes and appreciates the Bronies, instead of deciding, "Hmm, this show of ours is popular with a certain demographic, but not the demographic WE want it to be popular with. SCREW THIS SHOW!" *coughNickolodeonandCartoonNetworkcough*

...Though it's worth noting that MLP:FiM is actually just as popular with its target demographic (4-11 year old girls) as it is with the bronies.

As for the water to Cloudsdale thing... it sounded like Ponyville wasn't the only town bringing water to Cloudsdale or other pegasus cities. Since Dash was, at the very least, the best flier in Ponyville, it made sense for her to be in charge of Ponyville's tornado operation.

@AuraX: The Flim-Flam Brothers episode. i'm probably completely wrong on this but ever since the episode aired it always bothered that Flim-Flam Brothers were portrayed as the antagonists because, they really didn't do anything inherently wrong they were just businessmen. I mean, sure the deal they tried to cut with the apple family was unfair but considering the fact that Apple Cider is the Equistrian equivalent to crack and the only reason ponies stopped buying their cider was because they ran out, using a machine that can make multiple barrels of cider in seconds would easily make a profit for them even if they only got 10% because of the addiction everypony has with cider and the fact they would be able to make so much cider in a minute it just never made sense to me when the deal was relatively sound.

@Sabbo Again: "Deal was relatively sound?" Here I go again... seriously, this is the third time I've had to point this out...

The Flim Flam brothers had no real business sense. It was "give us most of the profits or we run you out of business AND out of town." They also goaded Granny Smith into betting their livelihood and the farm. Not to mention, it was INCREDIBLY idiotic of them to make it so easy to just turn the quality control off. Let's be frank, they were con men. Or con ponies. And they were jerks. If they had any real business sense, then yeah, they could've cut a decent deal and worked WITH the Apple family instead of against them. But it was all about them, and they clearly valued quantity over quality to begin with (note that the competition was not who had the best tasting cider, but who made the most cider in an hour).

The absolute WORST thing they did, however, was make Apple Bloom cry. And that's just terrible.

Wow, I missed a lot by leaving to stay out of the argument.

Although, if I had argued, I would have lost. I can never win any arguments. T_T

Oh, and AuraX? About the whole "I'm like Fluttershy" thing you said...

Treat me like a pushover, and you'll get the once over. No one takes my title of "Most Like Fluttershy!" NO ONE!

*grabs AuraX and throws him violently*

@Sabbo Again: In hurricane Fluttershy, Read it and Weep, May the Best Pet Win, and A Canterlot Wedding, Rainbow Dash was shown be be very respectful (though it had to build up in Read it and Weep). The Mysterious Mare-do-Well was the only one where she actually behaved like a jerk. And, you're about the only one who actually saw the ending coming. Most people thought it was going to be either the return of Trixie or the debut of Firefly.

As for the water tornado I would say having Rainbow Dash lead it actually makes more sense. It is in fact a very important event, but it's also a relatively-simple procedure. You just spin, spin, spin, pretty much. Other ponies with more skill sets under their belt would most likely be swamped with other tasks. And I get the feeling that Spitfire being there was a sign that the Wonderbolts had started considering Rainbow Dash to become a part of their ranks. They wouldn't let a one-trick pony in. Just being able to pull off a Sonic Rainboom doesn't cut it. They needed to make sure she had other skills, as well, both in and out of flying tricks.

As for Rainbow Dash not seeming to learn from the Mysterious Mare-do-Well, there is a simple explanation for that: The episodes aren't in chronological order. It was noted through a large supply of details that the episodes did not air in chronological order. After all, Winter Wrap-Up aired before Fall Weather Friends. That's that most obvious one. It's likely to expect that the same applies to Season 2, as well.

@Jarkes: I will never forget the fact that Cartoon Network cancelled Sym-Bionic Titan after one season... one of the greatest shows it was airing at the time... just because it wasn't selling enough kids' toys... IT'S NOT A KIDS' SHOW!!!

@Lugbzurg: I sort of suspected the Mare-Do-Well would've turned out to be one of the other members of the mane six, but I didn't expect it to be all of them.

And again, during Hurricane Fluttershy, the fact that there's a wingpower record to break at all suggests that Ponyville's not the only town to bring water to Cloudsdale and other pegasus cities.

...Come to think of it, Cloudsdale's the only peagsi exclusive city we've SEEN in the show... There may be others (I'm betting Las Pegasus, or however it was spelled, is one), but who knows?

...Does anybody other than me want to see some of those other cities and towns that keep being mentioned, like Trottingham or Las Pegasus?

She has to assert her position as the most great and powerful, after all.

@Jarkes: The record doesn't actually suggest anything really. Plus, remember that they were just about to break the record, but, then, a lot of the ponies backed out or got sick the night before.

And, I forget if that Pegasus city was supposed to be based on Las Vegas or Los Angeles.

Just a reference to your pony comic on your spam dump or whatever it was.

You know, the one where Rainbow Dash is telling you how it's hard to get into the wonderbolts, and then you get wings and are able to immediately join or something.

And am I the only one who hasn't heard pegasus City mentioned?

@AuraX: That was a fan comic! It was completely non-cannon! Even to Serendipity! I just wanted to throw something together that would never happen, so as to not waste any jokes, and that was the first thing I came up with! I only made that thing as a test run for both GIMP and myself, to see how I would make a comic with that program.

@Jarkes: I'd say it's the worst of the major titles. Yes. Worse than Next-Gen.

The soundtrack? Come on... It's Jun Senoue! All I've even been dissatisfied with from him was Marble Garden's themes from Sonic 3 and the Sonic 4: Episode I soundtrack. I'm not entirely certain which tracks he composed of Sonic Generations and which ones he didn't, but, there were some that I found to be very lacking, such as Sky Sanctuary, Speed Highway, Crisis City, and Planet Wisp. (Both versions of each) I know he made the modern version of the Chemical Plant theme, and I just love it! It's my favorite track in the whole game!

@Lugbzurg: The problem with Black Knight is the common tendency for game developers to think "motion control = flail the Wiimote around," and when they actually try to use a gesture-based system of controls (like the original Marvel: Ultimate Alliance), half the time, it registers the gesture you were TRYING to make as a different gesture. Black Knight uses the flailing method. There are other issues too (you're not supposed to slash at the civilians, but they KEEP GETTING IN YOUR WAY WHEN YOU'RE TRYING TO SLASH THE BADDIES), but that's what really hurts it. Still, at least unlike Secret Rings, you can actually control your forward movement (In that game, I hit the proverbial brick wall when I got to Pirate Storm, because it was nearly impossible to make precision jumps on those RIDICULOUSLY tiny crates when you MOVE FORWARD AUTOMATICALLY unless you have the "brakes" on or are charging a jump. And the "Back Step" move was pretty finicky too).

Sonic Generations soundtrack... I actually really like both versions of "Escape From the City". The Classic version is one of the few cases where I don't mind the use of Autotune (another being Reach for the Stars from Colors).

...Speaking of which, what did you think of my list of bosses from each game that I would've liked to see in Generations?

@Jarkes: It also seems to feel more like a railroad track than any of the other games, the enemies are practically brainless, and the ending was just... WHY!? Forget Next-Gen and the Kiss of Life, that ending was just horrifying!

Hmmm... I rather liked that Egg Viper... They could do a lot more with it, now. It was kinda buggy.
