BTW, the pony's name is Minty. Judging by her eyes, she's the G1 version.
Fun Fact: In the G3 cartoons, G3 Minty was voiced by Tabitha St. Germain.

@Sabbo Again: It's two years into the past. You wouldn't expect someone to look the same in civilization as they would in isolation after all that time, would you? I suppose, like you she actually mistakenly believed that there was a rank among species of pony.

@Parfait d'Amour: Tears... they're the normal thing to come out ones eyes when they begin crying.

@Kirbysmith [DJ]: Yep, you figured it out! I just really wanted to stick a G1 pony into this page. So, I did a little research, since I'm not all that familiar with any generation all that much, aside from G4, and recognized the name "Minty". I've seen a lot of fanart for this G1 pony in particular. So, I figured this would be the best pick. Especially, since she was an earth pony. Most of the fanart showed her with wavy, twisty hair, so I went ahead with that form of style for what you see here. I made sure to do a bit of extra research on her, just before setting her up for the panels. I found out she likes to stand on her head. Go figure. It also said she likes checkers and... (Parfait d'Amour, make what you may about this and love it) collecting socks.

So, it seems many, if not all, come off as confused as to why an earth pony would be sad about suddenly being turned into a unicorn. It's simple, really.

Earth ponies have earth-based magic. (Pegasai have weather-based magic). Things that unicorns really have nothing to do with. As such, earth ponies are the ones seen tending to crops, other plants, and mass amounts of livestock. They are also a lot stronger and more durable than the other two species.

Remember Applejack and her family? They're all earth ponies. Remember the Hearth's-Warming Eve pageant? Only the earth ponies could do the work, because unicorns and pegasai were incapable of such actions.

Thus, if an earth pony were to be suddenly transformed into a unicorn, especially this far in their lifespan, their entire lives would be thrown into something they have no knowledge in, and in some cases, their own life purpose that they've honed for years would suddenly become obsolete. This may even be the case with Minty, considering her leafy cutie mark.

Also, I meant that it would be impractical for everyday life. (At least everyday life back in his day.)

Also, since he was a poet, he probably had little to no knowledge on how to cook, just like earth ponies have no knowledge on how to do unicorn magic.

Also, it's a new arm. New appendages usually take time to master.

ANYWAY, not that anyone here cares, but my fanfic was rejected by Equestria Daily. The primary reasons were the exposition dumps at the beginning (understandable) and the use of human dates like "June 20th, 2012" (not as understandable, given that at the very least, ponies have the same days of the week as humans). As such, the first chapter will go under heavy revision (I was considering completely rewriting it, but I decided not to go that far), and the second chapter will be tweaked to remove references to it taking place on June 20th.

Jarkes (Guest)

@Lugbzurg: Eh, the exposition dump WAS unnecessary, now that I think about it. And really, while the general time frame of the story in relation to certain events is important, the specific dates really aren't. As for EqD's practices being "corrupt" and policies "self-defeating..." well, the only problem I have is that fanfics have to be at least 3,000 words before even being considered. Heck, the exposition dump was there in the first place to bring it closer to 3,000 words.

Also, the pre-reader who looked at it was kind of... schizophrenic might be the right term. First he was giving reasonable advice (about the exposition dump), then he started acting like an asshole (something about the specific dates reminding him of The Truman Show... I didn't get it either), then he gave reasonable advice again (about punctuation errors that I missed).

And I have ended up going the full rewrite route, though the general events will be the same.

And even if I don't ever get featured on EqD, I don't really care THAT much... Still, it'd be nice for my fanfics to actually get noticed for a change...

@Sabbo Again: I really started to pick up on it after seeing a discussion on Facebook.

Often times, they won't accept submissions from people unless they're already popular. Even if what you made is crap, they'll take it if you've got lots of fans. If you're obscure, but your work is really good, chances are high they won't take it.

There were other things noted about inconsistencies, fan-made characters, and some less-than-tolerable imaginary. But one thing I definitely recall seeing firsthand was that, for a long time, they didn't want to put Cupcakes on, because it's... well, Cupcakes. Rather than sticking to their guns, they finally just slapped it in their features just because it was "popular".

@Lugbzurg: Actually, the Pony POV Series I keep raving about is VERY popular, and EqD still won't accept it for "grammar errors" and other things, no matter how many times the author tries to submit it. Still, grammar errors is a more understandable reason than the reason they gave the first time he tried to submit it. The reason they gave then? Applejack's accent was too thick. Seriously. My guess is that the pre-reader who moaned about that was replaced, because the author said that that hasn't come up any of the other times he tried.

It is worth noting, however, that they frequently post updates on the fanfic's audio adaptation, so it's not as if no one on the site likes it.

I am not Jarkes. However, TvTropes is a wiki catalog of memes and media conventions. It's a more reliable resource than Marshall Mcluan and George Orwell combined.

My favorite topics on the site are

woobie destroyer of worlds:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds

and Bullying a Dragon:
http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BullyingADragon

And, if you must know the secret to attracting fans is more or less related to taming your audience than writing a good story.

As we all know, although not necessarily in my reality, if somebody made a remake of "It's a wonderful life," "A christmas carol," or "puss in boots" it would get the green light before the ink has dried on the page.

I also suspect that "Hop" may be a failed attempt to remake "Harvey." so much so, that with less than fifteen minutes of additional footage, the story could be made one and the same.

Naturally, you'd have to know the right producer and be charismatic.

This is of course after you have managed to break free from your shackles and made it out of Plato's cave... assuming you would rather be a puppet master than explore the world beyond shadows. If you ask me puppeteering and animation are a lot of work. I find it much easier to convince people to perform for me or work with me as apposed to doing everything alone.

Although, I must admit, I have yet to figure out the trick of getting others to place their faith in me. In the past I have not generally been given automatic primacy, I guess I'm far to crafty and knit-picky to need support.

I can also report that consistency and simplicity is only necessary if your goal is to tame or train others into submission. Which, if you ask me is a form of assault if both parties aren't in agreement or fully aware of the manipulation.

Also I have a problem with the "Alphas" show on syfy, considering the superpowers portrayed are almost all natural human abilities that can be obtained with the right tools and training. The show is as bad as that trashy "Crusade" series that was on TNT a few years back. Seriously, you really have to use your imagination to make the powers seem more extraordinary or remarkable.

In fact, of the abilities portrayed "kinetic memory" and "pushing" people to bend to your will could easily be learned by anyone before they reach the age of majority. Honestly, I'm surprised they even consider those superpowers.
