Nova Reach... what are you doing? Nova Reach? STAHP! Pinkie Pie, don't encourage her.

Bit weird, I guess, having the punchline of sorts not being in the last panel. I could have the actual last panel be all "To be Continued... DUN, DUN, DUUUUUN!", due to it's cliffhangeriness. But I've since moved on from such silliness. I'm taking this comic much more seriously than any other I've made at this point in my life.

Both of the doubtful looks on Twilight's face where made by Cthulhuandyou, the more cheerful optimism by Austiniousi, and the final aggravation by Captrainbows. The sarcastic Rainbow Dash graphic was made by Scrimpeh, but the second one, I could not find the name, even though I looked over and over again through my folder. Sorry... Anyway, the blocked-from-view Applejack was made by Proenix, while the concerned look was made by RainbowFridge42. Fluttershy's attempt at confirmation was made by Proenix, while her cute little gasp was made by Elbongo. Finally, Rarity's snooty mode was made by Kittita, and her turning return was made by Reginault.

Anyway, I've also got a brand-new picture of some various types of Koro collectables. Anyone want to take a look?

Actually, I didn't realize until after I'd drawn them that they all look like microscopic material.

@greenpowerstar: I couldn't remember if that was the name of an actual episode, but I know for certain it was the title of a DVD (and maybe VHS?) collection of episodes. I borrow titles like that sometimes. Take for example "Sandy Bay", the proposed name for Green Hill Zone: Act 2 in my conceptual fangame, Sonic Dimensional. I got the name from the overworld of a childhood game of mine, Lego Racers 2.

@Jarkes: I think I like the Japanese soundtrack more... maybe. I prefer "You Can do Anything" over "Sonic Boom". I haven't actually played Sonic CD just yet, so I can't answer all of your questions. I do have the HD rerelease on Steam, though. I've got to get a new video card or something. Though, that may just come in the deal when I acquire myself a new Gaming PC. I just get a black screen that crashes.

I should also see about getting the Adventure titles, Nights into Dreams, and Jet Set Radio from there, as well.

As for that Dimensional project, I've been making some logical alterations to it, maturing it, even getting more music. The city (presumably, San Fransisco) and the radio should be a lot of fun!

@Lugbzurg: Once I get a PS3 (hopefully soon), I plan on downloading the HD re-release of Sonic CD from there, and then trading in my copy of Sonic Gems Collection (since the only particularly good game on that collection was CD).

Heck, I might get Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection on there, too, and trade in the Gamecube Mega Collection. And yes, I'll probably get Sonic Generations as one of the first purchases for PS3 games. You may not like the game, but y'know what? I find it quite fun, even if it doesn't feel exactly like the Genesis games or the Adventure games. (Let's not get into another debate about that, since we usually just end up repeating the same points)

@Jarkes: Sonic CD on PS3? Not so sure if getting a two-dimensional sidescroller on a console with analog controls is the best way to go, though.

Although, it gets even worse when you try to play something like Zapper or Frogger.

Wait... Sonic Generations? Did you enjoy playing it, or watching it play itself? (Not as much as Unleashed, but still, it's flat-out ridiculous...)

@Lugbzurg: When I was playing it, it felt like I was actually playing it, and not like I was watching it play itself. Same with Colors. I will admit that Unleashed did sometimes feel like I didn't have a lot of control over things, particularly when a QTE showed up (and that happened quite often). But I make it a point to actively avoid using the boost in those games unless I absolutely have to for one reason or another.

In regards to Sonic CD... well, it's not like the PS3 controller lacks a D-Pad.

CHAOS

reply

chaos is a tricky thing to design. people think dice are chaotic but I disagree and then there is the commonly used pinwheel of death that is just a circle with an even number of arrows pointing out of it. there are whirlpool symbold that convey the same meaning but every representation of chaos seems well ordered or follow's some path. even fractals, which are the quintessential representation of chaos are ordered to spectacular degree.

What you want to do is make something disturbing, an eye teaser or optical illusion.

I didn't say "many" people, just that there are people in general who believe that dice represent chaos. People who have survived near death experiences have mentioned something similar to tabletop role playing games similar to bunnies and burrows being played which has visible effects on our reality.

If you ask me, based on my research of psychical phenomena, plus the fact that it always occurs near death, has lead me to believe what is being seen is more like an LSD trip. Then again, psychologically speaking, an alien abduction scenario relies on the person being aware of science fiction media.

I would never say that random chance, or luck, is equal to chaos. Everyone has advantages and disadvantages. However, some people are given more opportunities to shine than others simply because human culture is the way that it is.

Not to mention the fact that some people are taught only the basics of survival and others are taught simply how to survive. Because if they actually taught literacy, logic, and economics...

#Cough#*cough*larceny*cough*#Koff#

instead of the three "R's" the world would be far more chaotic than it is now.

@GabrielsThoughts: "Dice"? "Chaos"? I've never heard of such a thing. I always saw dice as keeping order. Unless there's some other definition to the word "dice" that I just haven't heard, yet...

"Slice and Dice"? That's the only way I have heard it possibly being chaotic. But even then, it's a clean cut.

There was an urgent knocking at the door. I raced to open it, ready to leap into my carriage and get to the church to marry Lugbzurg. I paused in shock. At the door wasn't the driver... but a human dressed in a certain trainer attire.

It’s AuraX.

Before I had time to react, he raised a fist and punched me. The force of the impact sent me hurtling backwards, crashing into a box full of pretty tiaras. Woozily I looked up as AuraX stood over me, slowly pulling a Pokeball that was strapped onto his belt.

"Murdered shipping, did you?" He placed a fancy Running Shoe on my chest, pinning me down as he threw the Pokeball into the air. "An eye for an eye," he said.

Pokemon Trainer AuraX sent out Arceus!

"No, Aura, no!" I begged as the Alpha Pokemon begun to punish my quivering body with its crazy flashy Pokemon attacks. It does not relent, and soon I lay helpless on the ground as AuraX stared over me.

"And now, I have a wedding to attend!" He picked up one of the pretty tiara and brushed it off, placing it on his head. With a flourish, he jumped onto Arceus' back and took into the air, off to marry Lugbzurg.

"No..." I croaked weakly as I watched him fly away. "It was always you, Aura... I... love you..."

@Lugbzurg: Yeah, but the 3DS version is even more "Speed, speed, SPEED!" than the console version, considering that its Modern Sonic gameplay is based off of Sonic Rush (which I personally think fits your "extreme train simulator" description better than the console versions of Colors and Generations).

Plus, the Classic stages are the exact same layout as the originals, and most of the time, the music isn't remixed at all. Not to mention the lack of handheld Sonic stages represented (really, if you don't count the Game Gear Sonic 1 being represented by Green Hill and the DS version of Sonic Colors, Water Palace from Sonic Rush is the only representation of a handheld Sonic game). And why are almost all the stages "first" stages? The only ones that aren't are the aforementioned Water Palace and Casino Night Zone.

And I, for one, find actually FIGHTING Metal Sonic, Shadow, and Silver in the rival battles more interesting than merely racing them (okay, for Metal Sonic, I can understand why they would want to go that route, but really...).

Not to mention, for some reason, on Sonic Retro, the Time Eater isn't listed as a boss in the 3DS version. Which is... kind of weird, really.

@Jarkes:
It only really focuses on 'speedspeedspeed' with modern sonic, and even then not all the time. Radical Highway, for example, has more precision platforming than running around at the speed of sound.

Overall, however, there is a larger exploration element in 3DS than Console. Different routes to take and whatnot.

Oh, and the Time Eater has more attacks. And actually doesn't look like a big jumbled mess.

@.:AuraX:.: "Only really focuses on speed with Modern Sonic, and even then not all the time."

That's what I keep saying about the console versions. Planet Wisp, in particular, has a lot of precision platforming in both Colors and Generations.

I mean, yeah, I won't deny that there are a few places in Colors where you're moving forward automatically and can only Quick Step in terms of movement, but those moments mostly show up near the end of the game and with a few bosses. And I didn't really experience anything of the sort in the console version of Generations (except for the Silver rival battle, IIRC).

It doesn't have the "lock-on" of Sonic 3 and Knuckles or Knuckles in Sonic 2. And do you know why? Because Backbone Entertainment, the one responsible for all the porting, claimed that in order to do the lock-on stuff, they would've had to have cut all the bonus content the collection had.

@Jarkes: Sonic games aren't the only games on there. There's Golden Axe 1-3, Streets of Rage 1-3, Shinobi 1, Shinobi 3, Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, Ristar, all the original Phantasy Star games, and the console version AND the arcade version Altered Beast. Losing one feature from one game doesn't ruin an entire collection of over 50 classics.

@Sabbo Again: ...Fair enough. It's just a little irritating, since I've always wanted to beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles as a whole, and not the two games separately (since they always were supposed to be one game).

Still, I have troubling believing that they would've had to remove ALL of the bonus interviews and games to get the lock-on to emulate properly.

You know what else I find weird? You'd think Gunstar Heroes would be on there, but as far as I know, it's not...

@Jarkes: ...You know it's still the same game right?

It's not so much that they would have had to remove all the bonuses, it's more like they removed the lock-on to cram more stuff in.

You know what I find weird? Why they would put in the terrible Genesis port of Altered Beast when they could've put that in.

@Sabbo Again: Ah, that's one way of looking at it.

Now, you know what I was wondering? What exactly is the deal with Comix Zone? I played it a couple times, and it's like, you have ONE LIFE, and if you die, you get SENT BACK TO THE TITLE SCREEN. I know games from the 80's and 90's were hard and all, but that's just ridiculous. I'd probably have to use savestates (since Ultimate Genesis Collection allows you to do that) just to get past the first level.

@Jarkes: It's called a challenge son, play Ghost n' Goblins, Castlevania 1, or Ninja Gaiden if you don't remember what that is.

@Sabbo Again: Yes, video games really have gotten easier over the years. Mind you, there are plenty of modern games that can be pretty challenging, but a lot of modern games tend to be more forgiving than games of the 80's and 90's.

@Jarkes: Regenerating health, dumbed down AI, making the player characters op and with something like fighting games, Beginner modes, OP comeback mechanics (See also: X-Factor and Tekken Rage), streamlined, retarded inputs and over simplified game design overall.

@Lugbzurg: Oh, maybe I should've known what lock-on was. Now it makes perfect sense why they had to remove it to fit more games in.

I still think that losing one feature doesn't ruin an entire collection.
