Nova Reach? Why are you looking at me like that?

Parfait d'Amour, this is for you!

So, let's see what we got here. We've got Flitter and Cloudchaser hugging in mid-air, we've got Musical Toasters (a friend of mine on iBrony who reminds me of you a heck of a lot and who I think you'd get along real well with), and... what's this? Courage Heart in show-accurate visuals! I even got the swirly details on the earpiece!

It may not have any shipping, per say... but it does have the one and only legend known as "Fluffle Puff". And Dashlie just crashed into her butt. Is that awesome or what?

@Lugbzurg: Yeah, but they show a clip from the episode, and we still don't know exactly WHEN it's going to air, other than "November". Heck, we still don't know the context of the "Failure Success" song, or just what the deal with this King Somber (or Sombra, there appears to be two different names for him) character is (other than that he's the next character to go under the series's entry on the "Vile Villain, Saccharine Show" trope page).

Though I am curious about the whole "visit to the Griffon Kingdom" thing. Which makes me think that, with that, Celestia and Luna origins, return of Discord, and even the opening two-parter itself, they seemed to be doing more adventure stories like Faust had always wanted to do (ironic, given that she's now no longer involved with the show in any way).

All the new info intrigues me, but WHEN IS IT ALL GOING TO HAPPEN?

Guys... I need to warn you about something... Did I ever tell you about this?

Lugbzurg: One day, the craziest videogame idea I had ever thought of popped into my head during one of those "Don't do Drugs" presentations in high school. That should give you some context. It's called "Noble". And it makes no sense at all.

Reginald Noble awakes from his chambers and strolls around the military base. He is the only one dressed casually, and the only one in the entire complex speaking informally.

When war breaks out, Reggie breaks out his three-headed chaingun and charges out against the enemy forces in a brown/gray environment, with plenty of cover, and some extra second gun (like a shotgun, or something). It all seems like your average cookie-cutter shooter for a few minutes, until the freaky monsters start showing up.

Before you know it, you're fighting elephants with machine guns, pixelated things inside a 16-Bit dimension and battling flying textbooks that breathe fire and horrible flesh-hungry food in Mr. Noble's old high school.

It plays in a very oldschool style, reminiscent of Serious Sam, Duke Nukem or Quake. You've got weapons that shoot things like chickens and fireworks. Mines come in the form of wet cats, Reginald's melee attack is a headbutt and you gain health by chasing down anthropomorphic food that screams and runs away when it sees you (mostly doughnuts with eyeballs), all like the cheese or the key in Conker's Bad Fur Day.

Did I mention this game makes absolutely no sense and solely exists to be as ridiculous as possible?

PsychicTaco115: "Kids, this is what crack does to you. It makes you think of AWESOME IDEAS FOR VIDEO GAMES. So take it whenever you get writer's block at your game development company. That s**t helps."

Lugbzurg: Well, I'm glad you think so highly of my initial concept. But, I must point out that I have never taken any form of drug in my life, let alone get high or drunk.

I came up with this idea purely of out sheer boredom. That's just how my mind works. We needs more games that are just plain fun. Not with too much focus on context. (I thought this might strike someone's attention...)

Well, after all these years, I finally watched the old animated film, The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, once again! You have been warned... Because, as of now, I have a heck of a lot of work ahead of me, if I want to beat that movie in flat-out bonkers weirdness.

I haven't even told you about the part where a tank and jeep explode, only to be replaced with an ice cream truck and a unicorn... leaving you to choose which one you want to ride!

Not sure if it's clear or not, but Noble is a first-person shooter. It's influences, as far as FPS gameplay is concerned, would be Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem, Serious Sam, and Half-Life (some which which were already mentioned). Whereas influence from various other gameplay and style aspects would be from The Beatles' Yellow Submarine, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Monster Party, Earthworm Jim, and The Aquabats Super Show!

Oh, Sonic '06. You never cease to amaze me with how, after all these years, I still continue to discover new things wrong with you to this day.

This shouldn't have taken me nearly as long to notice as it did, but I realized this little bit while comparing its ending to that of Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time.

We all know how stupid it was that everyone somehow came to the conclusion out of nowhere that they could use the Chaos Emeralds to bring Sonic back to life, considering there's never been the slightest hint that the emeralds have ever been capable of any such thing.

But why didn't they even think of just snagging a couple emeralds and prevent Sonic's death? I know that's supposed to cause a time paradox and all, but if Sonic could do it for Elise (and Eggman, I think...) earlier in the game, why couldn't everyone do the same for Sonic?

@Lugbzurg: Actually, that reminds me: I've discovered that I can actually refute your arguments as to why Unleashed, Colors, and Generations are so much worse than the Genesis or Adventure games.

"Too linear:" The Genesis games had you moving to the right most of the time. Yeah, you had some hidden areas, but most of the time you were moving to the right.

"Taking itself too seriously": Okay, what. Colors and Generations do not take themselves seriously at all. And that's the precise point.

"No exploration": Again, what. The Genesis games, and even the Adventure games, were NEVER about exploration. Really, none of the games have had a focus on exploration (except possibly Sonic Advance 2, but even then, that was mainly because of those f*yay*king Special Stage Rings). The games have always had an emphasis on speed, and momentum-based platforming. Which brings me to my next point.

"Not enough platforming": Your logic as to how Colors and Generations have almost no platforming baffles me. I honestly don't understand what you think qualifies as platforming, but rest assured there is PLENTY of it in Colors and Generations. Hell, Planet Wisp in Colors is probably the most platforming-heavy section of the game (and has the trickiest platforming; freaking Act 3...)

"Not in control half the time": ...Okay, you've got me there. But at least it's not like, say, Secret Rings, where you're NEVER in control.

And y'know what? Let's be honest: do you want the games to be stagnant and always like the Genesis or Adventure games, or do you want the series to grow and evolve? Considering your statement about rehash sequels on the previous page, I'm thinking the latter.

@Jarkes: You concept of "always going right" and "no exploration" makes me think you've got Sonic mixed up with Battletoads or something. You go left in the classics... a LOT. And that isn't even the point. Not only where there secret areas, the levels were broad and open, leaving you plenty of room to apply tactics on some of the trickier enemies that required more precise hits, as well as roaming space to apply the momentum-based physics.

Platforming and Exploration were always front and center. Speed was a gimmick, and never the focus point.

And jumping from one schoolbus-sized rectangle to another schoolbus-sized rectangle is really a rather piss-poor excuse for platforming. It's not at all much better than Bubsy 3D.

And these later titles have taken themselves too seriously. Bad writing and horrible attempts at humor do not mean it isn't taking itself too seriously. Just look at Duke Nukem Forever.

And of course I want the series to evolve. Change is good. Removing virtually every aspect and staple the series is known for, laser-focusing on one of the lesser-important parts, and dumbing down everything you know about the franchise is not evolution. They're taking everything away. This is devolution.

You want proof? Look no further than Sonic the Hedgehog 4. So many steps backward were taken. That is undeniable.

@Lugbzurg and AuraX: I suspect it's because of the heavy symbolism involved.

*puts on best British accent, and throws arms up into the air* SYMBOLISM! *next bit appears as text beneath me* OMGWTFBBQGENIUS!!!111!!

...41,637 internets for whoever gets that joke. Why that number? Because there's absolutely nothing significant about it.

@.:AuraX:.: I like it because it has this ongoing side-quest that lasts for the whole game's length. I could see it fitting in a game such as Banjo-Kazooie as an additional objective appart from the jiggies. What else is cool is how you should have already destroyed some of the skulltulas before you're even told what they are. I thought about it for a while, and I think that's a whole lot better than introducing and explaining them before they even appear.

@Jarkes: "Symbolism"? What symbolism?

I usually only get the first 50 in OoT, since by the time you get the prize for all skulltulas, unlimited rubees, you don't even need rubees at that point anymore.

That being said, in a serious playthrough, I do like to be a bit of a good guy greg in any game I play.

@.:AuraX:.: Ironically, the first time I actually made a conscious effort to get all 100 Skulltulas was during my current playthrough of the Master Quest version of Ocarina of Time 3D. Though I'm currently stuck in the Kakariko Well, since I'm used to being able to quickly find Dead Hand, get the Lens of Truth, and get the buck out of there. Not only do you pretty much have to go through the entire dungeon in Master Quest, but as I just pointed out, this is the first time I'm actually going for all 100 Skulltulas, and, well, I have no idea where they are.

Last time I played, I was stuck on the spirit temple in Master Quest.

Should probably look up a guide since I have no idea how to do it but Pokémon has taken over my gaming life since months ago.

I already finished Ocarina of Time (aside from the 4th bottle and the rest of the skulltulas) a while back and moved on to Majora's Mask, which I like even better.

Master Quest? I'm still in Dodongos' Cavern. Funny thing about these dodongos. They don't even show up until the next game.

@.:AuraX:.: I've only ever seen normal phoes. Unless you count the two near the royal gravestone directly in front of the entrance to the Shadow Temple. But you can't seem to catch those guys.

When you quote that, do you mean that the ones on hyrule field are normal, or you've never seen poes on hyrule field?

@Lugbzurg: See, here's the thing. In Hyrule Field as an adult, there's larger than normal Poes that you can only kill by shooting them with arrows while riding on Epona, because otherwise they'll disappear very quickly.

You can put them in bottles and sell them to the Poe Collector in the Market as an adult. When you've caught and sold all ten, he gives you the fourth bottle.

This sidequest is... very difficult.
