@.:AuraX:.: I actually removed a "Berry Punch is a drunk" joke from the original version of the first chapter of "Shining in the Darkness," due to the fact that I usually try to make shout-outs to fanon relevant to the story. That stuff with Derpy, Lyra, and Bon-Bon from the rewritten first chapter that you probably don't remember the details of? It's all set up for some stuff later. Whether it'll be the punchline of a joke, or actually relevant to the plot remains to be seen, however.

So, anyway, got the fifth badge and the Surf HM in Platinum version... Surfing is so much faster. I love it. Actually, a lot of the game is much faster than Diamond and Pearl. ...Unfortunately, it still has the "Saving a lot of data" crap whenever you do ANYTHING with the PC. They apparently didn't fix that until HeartGold and SoulSilver.

...I've also noticed that it's much, much harder than Diamond and Pearl.

@Jarkes: I get ya... Back in the page that Pinkie Pie was properly introduced in, I had originally planned to have her legs sticking out of Panel 5, and I certainly have the ability to do so, but even though I had seriously considered it, I then chose not to. It's a popular fannon thing, but there was something at the time that bothered me about it, and now this kind of stuff is a lot more clear. If I was into doing all sorts of fannon things, you'd be seeing prominent lesbians wandering around.

However, I cannot express my displeasure with the current narrative and layout of the comic without asking you cut the red string of fate between you and AuraX.

I'm telling you right now you're shooting yourself in the foot. Quite literally, I might add. I can't see anyone else enjoying this, you've been dragging it out for months and someone is going to snap or at the very least slap you silly as they unsubscribe.

The story itself has already collapsed under the waiting pressure. You need to cut to something else. There was once a story being told here. Remember the story?

Yeah... Lugzy, you're a great writer. Which is why dragging out this fluff stuff is a waste of your talents.

Okay, I've mentioned this one user on this site by the name of "Ultimate Yoshi." About a year ago, he started this arc in his "Kirby Adventure" comic starring Etamitlu Ihsoy, an inverted version of his Author Avatar character. He even took the trouble of create a fake account for the character to interact with the fans.

Etam, as he was called, had a bunch of crazy reality-warping, fourth-wall breaking shenanigans going on. Ultimate Yoshi had big, ridiculous plans for it to get crazier and crazier.

His fanbase was rather... split. Some people liked it, but a lot more hated it. UY eventually caved in and cut the segment short, ending it with the Author Avatar character annihilating Etam with the help of some of the actual characters of the comic.

...Do you see where I'm going with this? Rather than listening to your fans, you've continued to let this joke drag on to the point where it's not funny anymore, no matter how crazy you make it. It's beginning to show in other areas too; it's becoming clear that you're putting less and less effort into these panels, to the point where, as PDA put it, the panels have become little more than wallpaper images.

All I'm trying to say is that if this keeps up, you might lose some fans. I, of course, will remain loyal to you, but even PDA is starting to get a little irritated.

But, hey, it's your comic. If you want to have the epic story you had planned out grind to a halt in favor of a joke that wore thin weeks ago, that's your call.

EDIT: Wait, that was GabrielsThoughts who made the wallpaper remark. Whoops.

@GabrielsThoughts: Eh, Derpy was made by the fans due to an animation error they noticed, and since she got so popular, the animators put her in the background for fans to find kind of like a "Where's Waldo" kinda thing, with her appearances becoming less and less subtle until she even appeared with a speaking role.

So, she's like a fanon turned canon thing.

However, as far as I know Fluffle Puff has never appeared in the background OR with a speaking role, meaning she is not canon.

@greenpowerstar: Well, technically, she's never DIRECTLY broken the fourth wall. That is to say, she's never directly acknowledged that she's in a cartoon, made a reference to the producers, animation, or writers, directly acknowledged the audience and fanbase, or that sort of thing.

I'm pretty sure interrupting an iris out effect DOES sort of qualify, but that's pretty much the extent of whatever fourth wall breaking she does. The rest of it is just reality warping cartoon physics that only she seems to be able to do.

@Lugbzurg:

Yeah, I hate to say it, but when you make generalizations like that ("Well, obviously they've never read it, because why else would someone dislike something I made? Oh, and they're OBVIOUSLY athesits too, even though I have absolutely no evidence that that's true."), you sound a little... what's the word? Oh, yeah, arrogant.

You're a nice guy, and you really, really do not deserve the reputation you have... elsewhere (though that's an incident that we really don't need to bring up again). Hey! I'm not an atheist. I am currently an anarchistic secular humanist libertarian and democrat, (at least by planet earth's narrow set of definitions) who happens to have studied religion, oral history, and several global philosophies, which finds christian dogma ridiculous because it has nothing to do with the word of God, much less the philosophy of Jesus Christ as it has been presented in media, literature, and pop culture. In short, I don't think I hate enough to be a good Christian. I also happen to think Glen Beck is an alarmist weirdo and Nancy Grace is rebel-rouser who's addicted to chaos.

On another Platinum note, I freaking hate the Distortion World battle with Cyrus. His Gyarados and Honchkrow kept kicking my ass, Gyarados because he had freaking Earthquake to counter Kimba, my Luxray. I only got lucky with Gyarados because he used Giga Impact to knock out one of my Pokemon, which opened him up for me to finish him off with Kimba. Then his Honchkrow kept knocking out several of my Pokemon, and finally, I had just ONE hit to go on his Crobat, I was down to Kimba, who was badly poisoned and in yellow health, and surprise surprise, the Quick Claw DIDN'T activate when I needed it to net me a surprise win, and he KO'd me with Cross Poison. Heck, his Houndoom and Weavile were the least amount of trouble, but even they had some struggle. I'm taking a break for now so that I don't start cussing the game out. But I'm afraid I'm not going to get Gyarados to use Giga Impact again while at pretty low health (with my luck, he'll use it while still at full health).

EDIT: And now I've beaten Cyrus without using my Luxray at all. Go figure. Oh, and I caught Giratina in a Dusk Ball (apparently the Distortion World counts as a cave...), went to Lake Verity to get Mesprit to start roaming (I hate those kinds of Pokemon...) and I am currently at Lake Valor trying to catch Azelf.

Perhaps a discussion of replacing wallpaper thumbnails with actual wallpaper or comprehensive filler would be nice.

Though one comment suggested that Chespin's final form would be Grass/Dark, Fennex (already forgot that one's name, but I think that's it) would be Fire/Psychic, and Froakie (not really digging this one, both name and design) would be Water/Fighting. That would actually make it so that each fully evolved starter would have an advantage and a disadvantage against the others.

Of course, given the track record, we're probably going to get another Fire/Fighting combination with a pure Grass and pure Water type.

I realise you are working on the comic right now so it behooves me to remind you that the panels need to flow together in a way that tells the story a bit more comprehensibly than it does on this page.

I'm not telling you what to do, but it seems that you are making thumbnails and storyboards that are great, but do nothing to progress the story. And, at this point, have taken the reader away from the characters and storyline all together.

Were this to air on television this sequence would have probably been edited down, or at the very least it would have taken a few seconds and not what appears to be 3 MONTHS to complete the sequence. I suggest you cut to something else.

Crosscutting was developed by D.W. Griffith for a reason and it wouldn't undermine the story. There is nothing stopping you from returning to this in 3 months and finishing it up then. I'm not trying to stop you from taking action, but this sequence cannot continue indefinitely.

@GabrielsThoughts: I'm thinking that if this were to air on television, at this sequence's current length, it would be about 2, 2 1/2 minutes. Which is way too long for a goofy sequence like this.

It's like the "runaway baby stroller" sequence in one episode of season 2 of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (I'm dead serious; watch Linkara's "History of Power Rangers" series for more on how idiotic it is) in more ways than one. First, it's ridiculous that Fluffle Puff has been rolling for so long, indicating that Ponyville is built on the biggest hill ever. Second, a giant ball of fluff should not have enough speed or torque to be rolling this fast (I'm actually using a lot of phrases Linkara used to describe the sequence he was talking about). Third, this sequence has been going on for nearly 3 months. The "runaway baby stroller" sequence was about 3 1/2 minutes, nearly one-fifth of the episode, which could've been spent building on Lord Zedd's current plan (it's worth noting that the episode was part of a 3-parter). However, THAT sequence had one good thing about it: it established that the three newly introduced characters (who would go on to replace three of the Rangers) were good people and worthy of taking on the mantle (though this was several episodes before they actually did so). THIS sequence, however, is just an increasingly ludicrous situation that is advancing nothing, story-wise or character-wise.

Ok, 13 pages, six panels, each consisting of jump cuts, has been clocked at roughly 2 and 1/2 minutes. That's roughly 20 seconds for each page.To suggest 10 seconds with your most recent upload would be generous.

I tend to think that somebody like you might want folks to admire the creative genius you've put into your work.

It's funny that you should mention Hideo Kojima, the fact that he's still working and holds some measure of international notoriety in his late 40's means that he knew when to fold.

In short, one has to be flexible and quick enough to make informed decisions in order to be successful. You have been informed by no less than five sources that this sequence is getting long in the tooth.

Numbers lie, the fact is you have been alienating many of your readers for months (okay maybe weeks) now. One of the few reasons I suspect people are interested anymore is because they want to see what amounts to a train wreck.

In short, you're off the rails.
