So there's that cutie mark! That's got itself going for... itself.

What is his life purpose again?

For that matter what is Nova's cutie mark? Is it a pinwheel, a fart blossom, or something else?

I would have expected a heart song long before his brand logo showed up.

And, on a completely unrelated note, In college I took a class on conflict management, not conflict resolution, or crisis management which is a field of study that's just a little over sixty years old. I also took a class on contemporary criticism and another on persuasion. I've also taken community based learning and career enhancement classes among other communication classes.

Unlike photography, wherein someone can supposedly be an expert with a third grade education (not my belief in the slightest), I cannot identify who is saying what in the last panel. Pinky's eye line and facial expression don't appear to really match the topic at hand. And, I have to question why she is on her back in the last panel?

I honestly think he'd be better off without the tramp stamp. Now he has no negotiating leverage because the emblem lets everyone know what his limitations are.

@GabrielsThoughts: Actually, cutie marks just show what a pony's #1 talent is, but not their only speciality. For example, Pinkie Pie's great at throwing parties (as represented by her cutie mark,) but she's also an amazing baker. And Twilight's cutie mark represents magic, but she's also an avid learner and librarian and is (usually) very logical, organized and scientific about things, making her a great leader under certain circumstances.

@Kirbysmith [DJ]:

Meanwhile, they're overspecialized in one field. And, you know what field that is almost immediately. Which is bad because the society is more about control rather than personal responsibility. It makes things far too convenient to shift blame and cover ones tracks. It also sets up a double standard for what qualifies as maturity among the ranks. Every thing about the pony society is corrupt from appeal to authority, through appeal to force, and appeal to tradition. Your status is based on liking, obligation, bandwagon appeals to the lemmings, and exigency(if not emotional blackmail or extortion). The ponies are all slaves bonded through self interest, conceit, and laziness.

Not to mention everyone could be a great leader under certain circumstances. If they could actually switch off leadership roles once in a while, wherein everyone had an equal opportunity to lead follow or get out of the way, that would be a more realistic example of friendship and not militaristic hubris, or dog training.

I'm not saying human society is any better. After all, our social status is usually assumed, achieved, assigned, acquired,or absconded. Still, there is always the possibility of climbing a different social or economic ladder if you encounter a glass ceiling. The ponies are a nation of socialists under marshal law who would withhold growth potential from special populations and dissidents in order to keep them in an infantile state of dependency for as long as possible.
